Torture back garden

This is... Torture back garden

I read in the latest Lady's Flora Gazette
Plant life know when they are being eaten.
"I am being eaten"
Fucking Hell.
They say to the other plants around them:
"I am being eaten"
Fuck Me.
To warn them the latex sheen bug is taking bites.
"Assume the brace position"
My God.
You may still be identifiable by your thorns.
I read in a botanist research paper
Plant life count bees as a concept of time.
"It is time again"
Jesus, yes.
They listen out for the buzz-buzz-buzz-buzz
"It is time again"
Holy fuck.
Recognising the individual style of sting.
"Assume the brace position"
My God.
Count the blessings for the bee and the whip.

This picture is a storm

This is.... This picture is a storm

Light running off jaded surfaces.
Low notes tumbling on and on.
Leather rain drops on skin.
Tendu and sculpted silver lined limbs.
This storm a slow ballet, now whips.
Sensual, morbid clouds catch in shock.
Guts spilling.
Oil sleaze spittle drooling.
Moans distorting in twists and turns.
Talking in tongues.
Portamento slurring
Dragging contretemps
Bouncing, drenching spray.
Snarling attack dog at prey.
This storm becomes all consolation.
Porcelain ghosts in the cemetery.
A whorl wind of reminders buffet the stones
In the eye the sublime of the meaningless.
The beauty of the blankness.
Like smudges on the picture of Dorian Grey,
Colour pops from tones of gloom.
Lines stretch way on to far off doom,
Drawn from flesh and bone,
Breathless curses, soaked.
But this onyx portrait is so very still-life, it is a mirror.
Brush strokes weights like a mourner's overcoat.
Lithe leg and heel steps out the frame.
Candle flames all blown out
This storm is a terror!

Acid rain

This feels very much like a B-side. Not actually saying anything in particular.
This is... Acid rain

I don't want to go out in this change of weather.
I'm not having any fun in it no more.
Watching you become acid rain.
Don't want to walk under it.
Step to not slip on its shadow,
spilled thickly on the ground.
I don't want to get soaked through.
Laid there.
Cutting sheets off from my body.
In a shower of wire barbs.

Things grow on us.
Rushes.
Thorns.
Trailing vines.
Day's eyes.
They weave and they push apart.
They save and they hurt the heart.

It's a shame how it went down.
I tired of whistling for it.
Out twisted lips, always sucked instead of blew.
When I came to see, the light was blue.
When I came to talk, the temperature was blue.
When I came to touch, the hand was blue

We don't talk about the cold weather no more.

It ain't snowing over seas

This is really a b-side.

This is... It Ain't Snowing Over Seas

It ain't snowing over seas,
It's cold pink petals floating on the shore.
What's a rise and fall narrative for,
Only to miss ebb and flow behind every one?
All the while trying to figure out how to navigate
A way through this undertow state.
I'm a plan 9 survivalist.
Left with resilience to last out whatever this is.
Can't be everything it seems, immersion in a deep dream.
But then I got the feeling I'm awake and wired to a socket,
And why do I have blossom in my jacket pocket?

It ain't snowing over me,
It's cold letters settling unwritten, never sent.
The book on the shelf: poetry of Brecht,
In one of these years I'll open it up, I suspect,
When no one I trust is calling on the phone
I want all this living to leave me alone.
I'm a plan 9 spiritualist.
Left with fallow faith to grow with what I'm faced.
Demons exorcised slow notice we're the ebb and flow,
Perished, weakly moaning, they vomit stories to the floor,
Looking much like snow, floating on the shore.

Song for Winona

I woke up in a morning with this lyric in my head. This is like my McCartney dreaming Let It Be.

This is... Song for Winona

I got a crush on Winona.
Hangin' out hopin' she's gonna
One day go steady with me.

Sometimes I catch a movie of her
On Alternative late-night TV.
Half-eyed, it's like she's in the bedroom with me.
Or I'm hangin' at the back of the scene.

I got a crush on Winona.
Hangin' out hopin' she's gonna
One day go steady with me.

Laying these here to rest

If Greville and the Tombstones had an EP of rarities and B-sides, it might well be called Laying These Here to Rest.

But, of course, there are no rarities and B-sides, only poems I began to get me to the point of being able to say something else. Or were written but never quite enough to be deemed finished. Or have, until this, never been published on the band blog before. The following are notes and starts and stops of things written completists might like to read here in this collection.

Please enjoy the misfit things.

Hymn for anxiety

I’m living life according to my zodiac
I’m dealing blackjack at the card table
Stopping my hands from being idle
I’m in control.
Because I’m doing all my exercises
Taking medication detailed on the label
A caw as comforting as it is demented
I’ll tell you straight
It sings to you.
I’m burying deep on my big mistake
Failures exist only if they escape
And they won’t
Because I’m emotionally stable
I’ll hunt them down
If they do.
When you figure out it’s all meaningless
You’ve no fear leaving behind all this.
Bundled up in heartfelt anxiousness
Because we like death
Well, at least that’s true.
Holes can be dug for all sorts of causes
Echoes appear as dead voice noises
I’m only a mourner
Just like you.

Rembrandt has nothing new to say

You say you won but you’ve no stomach for the conflict.
Best hope is if you lose yourself to never be told it.
Say what you like when you don’t believe in it.
When you’ve got a hammer every nails’ hit.
Buy into it and buy into it and buy into it.
Fall for it and fall for it and fall for it.
Get over it, get over it, get over it.
Complicit, complicit, complicit.
Guess that’s just the way of it.
A martyr.
Bone silent mother.
Silences like no other.
Skins, grind and scatter.
Ink frayed and cloth in tatter.
The end is only going no further.
Accept grief, prepare death a supper.
Men’s smooth faces need no line to flatter.
Teeth melt like wax in white heated candour
Nothing to live up to so it really doesn’t matter.
Nazi nurse so feminine, see the cat-lick eyeliner.
No hint of things wrong, you say you are the victor.
Dead before consequences of the actions of the actor.

We All Want To See A Big Death Scene

Eyelashes dust on astral blusher.
Tendons straighten their ties from soft muscle.
Relaxed cords loose themselves from joints.
Hourglass hips time an empty sensation.
Ringlet hair to accentuate.
The lips, the eyes, the neck.
Plunging robe narrows at amethyst heart.
Daisy-chain the ankle to scent a summer’s day.

Twenty Four Hours of Words Make A Truth

I suffer for you

My muse makes me write things because it likes to frighten me

My muse likes terror tales,
The bloodier the better.
Dead trees, dismemberments,
Hanging skies of sickly pallor.

Told as Wurlitzer tunes,
Dark works to drip and ooze.

My muse collects them.

In cold, tin pails.

To write poetic exhales,
Sighed upon my muse.
Each phrase a precious jewel,
Lay them precisely at red shoes.
I'd like to write life-kissed arias.
My muse demands them
Little terror tales.

B-side to Nuclear Fall out

The b-side for the record, Nuclear Fall out - if it existed - is Screw You, John Beaumont.
